The innovative impeller fastening system for fat bikes from DT Swiss! Instead of the eccentric clamping principle developed more than 80 years ago for racing bikes, the clamping force is built up by the tightening of a screw connection with a lever.

The DT Swiss RWS Big Ride quick release is specially developed for the standard with 15 mm axle diameter on the front wheel. This standard is used by an increasing number of manufacturers.
The great advantage is the higher thickness of the axle , which results in a much stiffer fork. The difference is especially noticeable when starting, cornering and braking. When loaded, the fork, for example with fat bikes, is significantly less.

The operation is very simple: Tighten the tensioner by turning the lever clockwise as far as possible by hand (at least 15 Nm). Depending on the fork design, this can also be done by moving the lever several times. Then lift the lever and turn it to the desired position – the impeller is secure and fixed.

Because there are no plastic parts in the flow of the RWS, the clamping force is independent of the temperature and thus the RWS is 100% disc-brake-proof!
Due to the direct transmission of the lever force to the thread, the RWS can achieve a clamping force of up to 50% higher than with conventional quick-action clamping devices. This is not only safer, but also increases the stiffness, which is particularly noticeable with disc brakes.
